James Robert Vodicka, 79, Of Keenesburg, Colorado, passed away on April 3rd, 2018. James was born February 3, 1939, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin to James and Mary Vodicka.
He spent his youth on a farm and graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1957. He joined the Air Force in 1962. Jim was always very appreciative of the skills he learned while serving his country and used them throughout the rest of his career. In 1967, when he was stationed in Great Falls, Montana, he met his wife Mary Jane Beer and they were married August 8, 1964. Jim was also stationed in Alaska and Washington and he attended college in Seattle, Washington.
1967 he joined United Airlines and worked at O’Hare International Airport until 1981. His next career step was with The United States Air Force as an Aviation Supervisor.
1984 found the Vodicka family leaving Illinois and moving to Denver Colorado where he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as an Aviation Safety Inspector until his retirement in 2001.
Jim is survived by his wife Mary Jane, three children; Jennifer Bailey, Robert Vodicka and Deanna Maupin, 10 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ann, a nephew and numerous family members of his wife’s family.
Services will be Monday, April 9, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roggin, Colorado. Viewing will be between the hours of 9:30 and 10:30, with the Rosary beginning at 10:30. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the rosary with Graveside Service immediately following the mass at Heart of the Plains Cemetery. A reception will be held in Jim’s honor at the Holy Family Parish Hall in Keenesburg, following the graveside service.
