Melvin Burback Obituary

Melvin Burback, age 82 of Henderson, Colorado, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 in Westminster, Colorado. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Melvin was born on September 15, 1936 in Longmont, Colorado to Henry and Mary Burback. He graduated from Fort Lupton High School. On February 19, 1956 he married Bettejo Lancaster and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage. He retired in 1994 after thirty plus years of being a local truck driver and remained a member of the Teamsters Local 17.

Melvin enjoyed fishing and camping with his family in Wyoming at lake Hattie and would come back with many stories. He was a very talented woodworker, a hobby he enjoyed and made many keepsakes for his family and friends. Mel was a family man who took great pride in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to hear what was going on in their lives. Holidays were for family and he spent them surrounded by his family. Melvin enjoyed bowling and looked forward to monthly dinners with his bowling buddies. Melvin has shared the last 10 years of his life with his kind and loving companion, Mildred Shelburne. They enjoyed spending quality time together along with their family and friends, took pride in growing their garden and looked forward to baseball season, which they didn't miss.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bettejo, his parents Henry and Mary Burback, his sister Eileen Miller, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Bud and Helen Lancaster.

He is survived by his three children, Helen (Fred) Muskopf, Marvin Burback and Jodi (Gordon) Pike, his grandchildren Jolynn Sweetman, Jimmy (Jenni) Sweetman, Jennifer Burback, and Matthew Pike, his great grandchildren Danny Sweetman, Branson Paulson, Danielle Sweetman, Dylan Sweetman, Jade Munson, and Alex Munson, his companion Mildred Shelburne, his sister Anna Kipp, brothers Robert (Brenda) Burback, and Henry (Glenda) Burback, brother-in-law Lew Lancaster and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home 75 @. 13th Avenue in Brighton from 6:30 to 8:30.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 19, 2018 at Henderson Community Church 12001 Oakland Street in Henderson at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow the service.
