Miguel “Mike” Garcia, 64, of Wattenberg, Colorado, passed away on May 30, 2018.
Mike was born in Brighton, Colorado on February 17, 1954 to Ben and Stella (Giron). Mike attended schools in Fort Lupton, graduating from Fort Lupton High School in 1972. Mike married Theresa Navarro in Wattenberg on May 8, 1976. Together they had two children; Mikal and Robert.
Mike worked in maintenance for several municipalities, including Brighton, Lafayette, Aurora and Wattenberg. Mike also worked for COBE Labs in Arvada, manufacturing blood pumps. Mike loved working with his hands, especially masonry work. He loved playing ball, especially baseball and softball, and earned the nickname, “The Hammer” for his hitting performances on the field. It gave him great pleasure to coach his children and grandchildren and to bowl with his relatives.
In his retirement years, Mike took up driving a school bus for St. Mary’s Catholic School in Greeley, where he transported children from Fort. Lupton to Greeley.
Mike will always be known as a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and uncle.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 42 years; Theresa, children Mikal (Kevin) Paugh and Robert (Kim) Garcia, as well as grandchildren; Shelby, Chase, Saul and Lando. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings; Greg (Angie) Garcia, Karen (John) Pino and Joel (Nicole Plemmons) Garcia and father-in-law Lorenzo Navarro.
A Visitation and Rosary are scheduled for 6:00pm and 7:00pm, Tuesday, June 5th at St. Williams Catholic Church in Fort Lupton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, on Wednesday, June 6th at St. Williams Catholic Church.
