Raymond Giron Obituary

Raymond Elmer Giron was born to Antonia Chavez and Joe Giron in St. Vrain, Colorado on November 12, 1934. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Giron, mother Antonia Giron, brothers Lloyd, and Sam, sisters Rosie, Tilly, Tomasita and Agnes. He is survived by his wife Agnes Lily Giron of Ft. Lupton, 2 sons Ray Giron (wife Patricia Giron), and Angelo Giron (wife Lucilla Giron), 8 grandchildren Raymond L Giron (Ashley), Chase Giron, Samantha Giron-Gonzales (Dennis), James Giron, Jesse Giron, Brandon Swanson (Megann), Angelo M Giron (Annalyse), Kathryn Giron, 3 sisters Celia Candelario (Eddie), Mary Ann Espinosa (Anthony), Laura Fourhorn (James), 2 brothers Pat Giron (Vivi), Robert Giron (Orlinda) and 3 great grand-children Kaia Romero, Fernando Deciga, & Aviana Giron and several nieces and nephews.

Ray attended school in Wattenburg, CO. He joined the United States Marine Corps in May of 1954. He received honorable discharge from the in May of 1962. He received a good conduct and National defense Service Medal. He was very proud of being a Staff Sergeant and Frogman. His love for the Marines influenced many young men who still speak of this today. While serving, he married the love of his life “Lily Giron” on July 12, 1957.

Ray worked with his brother Sam carrying HOD which led to his profession as a brick mason. Not only was he an avid lover of baseball but also a player. He started playing for the Wattenburg Blue Jays, continued his baseball playing in the service, and along with a good friend Joe Zaragoza, “Doggie Joe”, started the Fort Lupton Hawks in the early 1960’s. After the Hawks he started the Fort Lupton fast pitch softball, at Riverside Park, which is now known as Pearson Park. His team won multiple tournaments and a state title. His love for sports continued, watching his sons and grandchildren play. He loved watching the Colorado Rockies up until the day he passed.

Ray loved spending time with his family. He would attend parties with his brothers and sisters dancing and singing the night away. He really enjoyed going fishing. He also loved seeing his kids, grandkids and great grandkids for Saturday breakfasts. He loved when “Publishers Clearinghouse” envelopes would show up and he would say “Look I hit the big one, the vans are coming to Lupton!” He just wanted to win not for himself but for his family. Ray was also known for handing out “candy” to everyone, gambling in Blackhawk/Central City, and attending The Senior Community Dinner in Watte every Tuesday without fail. He will be missed by many.

There will be no services or reception as this was Ray’s wish before he passed.
