Richard J Gabel

Richard J. Gabel, 78, of Firestone, died February 6, 2018 in Greeley. He was born in Fort Lupton, Colorado on September 26, 1939 to Gotlieb and Pauline (Meier) Gabel.

He graduated from Fort Lupton High School in 1957 and attended Regis University for two years. He then married Cammie King on May 31, 1959 in Fort Lupton.

Richard worked as a technician for Kodak and was a volunteer for the Fort Lupton Fire Department for over 20 years. He was also a past fire chief, a past Fort Lupton city council member, an independent real-estate salesman, for J.L. Sears in Ft. Lupton, and a United Power Board member throughout all his work experiences.

Richard was an avid fisherman, golfer, skier, motorcyclist, and enjoyed the outdoors greatly. He enjoyed taking vacations and made sure his family enjoyed and shared their experiences along the way. He was always busy with his kids and supported them through all sports and activities including working with their booster clubs as an avid enthusiast.

Richard is survived by his wife, Cammie of Firestone, Colorado; sons, Rick (Jackie) Gabel of Frederick Colorado, Randy Gable of Fort Lupton, Colorado; daughters, Shelley (Lyle) Ravenkamp of Hugo, Colorado, RaJean (Phil) Tiffany of Fort Lupton; brother, Leroy Gabel of Colorado Springs; sisters, Jaeanne Brokaw of Aptos, California, Shirley Bell of Fort Lupton, Colorado, Patty Glynn of Brighton, Colorado, and Maxine Hilderbrand of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., February 13, 2018, at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home, 75 South 13th Avenue, Brighton, CO
