Cruz Chavez-Lucero, age 61, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. She was born May 7, 1958 Parral, Mexico, to Manuel Chavez Lara and Sabina Lucero. Cruz attended school for six years in her upbringing and married Jose Duran Luna on September 1, 1973.
For work Cruz was a housewife and did everything she could to keep her homes in tip-top condition. She was responsible for all of the cooking, cleaning and even took over the duties of looking after her children and great-grandchildren. Cruz was also a great cook and was known to have made the BEST tamales and menudo. She also loved to sew, and was great when it came to giving good advice to her family and friends. Cruz was a simple woman, but very loving, and compassionate. She always looked out for her family and was very caring and kind. She will be deeply missed by many of those whom knew had the opportunity of knowing her.
Cruz is survived by her six children; Jose (Olivia) Duran of Ft. Lupton, CO, Claudia (Pedro) Payan of Brighton, CO, Mayra (Ernesto) Villalobos of Commerce City, CO, Yanira (Saul) Lujan, of Brighton, CO, Nereida (Leonel) Duran-Gomez of Aurora, CO and Diana Duran of Lochbuie, CO. Along with three siblings; Eduardo, Josefina, and Fausto Chavez-Lucero, and nine grandchildren. She is preceded in death by five other siblings; Jose Antonio, Juan, Gabriel, Regulo, and Justina Chavez-Lucero.
Please join the immediate family for a rosary service to help celebrate Cruz’s life at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Sunday 18, 2019 at 4PM, and again the following Monday for her funeral service at 11AM, also at St. Augustine Catholic Church. The family of Cruz would love to receive your blessing and condolences and would greatly appreciate your attendance for the services.
Cruz had a beautiful life and will be greatly missed. May she rest in paradise.
