Dirk Ryan Packer, 54, was born in Denver, Colorado. He was born and grew up in an area northeast of Fort Lupton, called Aristocrat Ranchettes, until he was in his early 20’s. He enrolled in a program CDSI offered, in Greeley, to learn a trade. Later, it was named Envision. He moved back home and in May, 2009, he had a herd of cattle, which he cared for and gave him a purpose in life. He was very proud of his responsibilities, doing cattle chores. Suddenly, he was pinned between the bumper of a pick-up and the little camp trailer and broke both bones in both of his legs. Seven weeks later, when his legs were almost healed, he passed away.
Dirk was a very special man. He never met a stranger and he loved everyone he met and knew. His younger brother, Dale Turley, was his idle. He was a very strong and loving man, a gentle giant. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his older brother, Ervin Eugene Packer; sister, Arlene Whiting; grandparents, George and Lou Spilman and Albert and Lillie Packer; step dad, Leonard “Tex” Turley; step mom, Beverly Packer; Uncle Bob Spilman, Aunt Ivy and Uncle Paul Sullivan, Aunt Leona and Aunt Wanita.
Dirk is survived by his mom, Jenny Turley - Fort Lupton; father, Ervin Packer-Kirk; brothers, Doug (Stacey) Packer - Brighton and Dale (Martha) Turley - Fort Lupton; step sisters, Naomi VanHoose and Sarah Turley, both of Oregon; Uncle Mike Spilman - VanBuren, Arkansas, Aunt Flora Spilman - Sugar City, Aunt Penny and Uncle Steve Allmer - Nampa, Idaho, Uncle Everett and Aunt Thelma Packer - Yuma, Otto (Glenda) Packer - Ironton, Ohio, Paul (Pam) Packer - Sadalia, Orra (Linda) Packer - Yuma, Erma Graham - Lamar, Glenn (Pam) Packer Hartman; as well as, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
