Jose Garza Reyes

Jose (Joe) G Reyes, 81, of Hudson Co, lost his battle with cancer on August 24th, 2019. He was Surrounded by his family until the end.

He was born January 6, 1938 in Elsa, TX, to parent’s lsabell Garza Reyes and Miguel Reyes. He was one of seven children.  Joe had various jobs including; picking cotton, surveyor, handyman, sandblaster, welder, building and cleaning silos, painting,  he was the owner of a gas station/restaurant and finally a machine operator until his retirement from the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1994.

On July 4th, 1959, Joe married Stella Aragon in Roggen Co. After moving to Texas and then Kansas, they came back to Colorado in 1972 and settled in Hudson and were longtime residents there.  There he built his house, working on it nights and weekends. He was proud of the home he had built for his family. They had 5 children, Joe(y), Lori, Virginia, Jesse, and Deborah. He was an amazing dad.

Joe liked to "piddle" in the garage and even took up working on lawn mowers.  Everyone in town knew where they could get a lawn mower or have theirs fixed.  He could hear them start up blocks away and know if it was one he had worked on and he told them they could bring it back if it didn't work.  He didn't guarantee anything but he had a great warranty.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Paul Reyes, Rey Reyes, lrma Sanchez, Rudy Reyes, Nena Urbano, Mike Reyes, and a son in law; Mike Cardenas.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years; Stella Reyes, his children, Joe Reyes (Beverly) of Ft. Collins, Lori Nelsen (Jim) of Mesa, AZ, Virginia Cardenas of Thornton, Co, Jesse Reyes of Denver, Co, Deborah Crowe(Vince) of Thornton, Co. Grandchildren; April McClellan (Adam), Lisa Hale, Junior Hale, lsaac Reyes, Devan Reyes, Alex Crowe, Hanna Reyes, Brian Reyes, Cameron Crowe as well as Great Grandchildren, Landen Wolfe, Zackary Wolfe, Logan Wolfe, Jacob McClellan, Holly McClellan, and many nieces and nephews.
