Nella Elkerton Obituary

Nella Oliquino Elkerton (Garcia) lived a long, successful, feisty, and adventurous life. Nella was born in San Francisco Bulan Sorsogon, Philippines July 26, 1943 under a pineapple tree in the middle of World War II.  Her father was Santiago and her mother was Lotgarda Garcia. Nella was the seventh of ten children.  She attended school at The Luneta Academy and eventually went to college and obtained her Degree in being a Seamstress.

She met her husband Chuck (Blyth) Elkerton while he served in the Navy while stationed in Olangapo City, Philippines. After marriage, she immigrated and lived in both Imperial Beach, CA and Denver, CO until her passing.   She passed peacefully surrounded by family at Collier Hospice in Wheat Ridge, CO from Stage 5 Renal Failure 12 days after her 76th Birthday.

Nella is preceded in death by her father and mother, her brother and her sisters, son, Robert Ramos (Bobby), daughter Margie Genell, grandson Gabriel, her granddaughter, Ariana, her 2nd nephew Anthony, and two boxers - Lola and Tula.

She is survived by her faithful, committed, and loving husband of 46 years, Chuck Elkerton of Denver, CO, her loving children son, Rolly (Valentina) Asuncion of Palmetto, GA, Maria Flores with Caesare Ciufi of Denver, CO, Lezil Asuncion of Thornton, CO, Maria Oliquino with Joel James of Aurora, CO, Cheryl Elkerton with Mike Maag of Thornton, CO, Kimberly (Bob) Nelson of Draper, UT and North Pole, AK. Nella is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Daniel Flores, Ryan Asuncion, Genelle (Brian) Robinson, Mikala Tracy, Eric Hayes, Brandon Tracy, Vinny Fontana III, CJ Fontana, Maximillian Asuncion, Miracle Fontana, and Lillianna Asuncion as well as 4 great-grandchildren: Anthony, Giovanni, Roman and Phoenix Flores whom she all loved very much. She also loved her shadow and doggie – Toby.

Services will be held at The Crossing Church, 3501 W. 104th Ave, Westminster, CO 80031 on  August 16, 2019, beginning at 2pm.  Pastor David Baca will guide the Memorial Service.
