Sharon Lynn (Hunter) Williams

May 1, 1946 – November 22, 2019

 

Sharon L. Williams, 73, of Brighton, CO, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 22, 2019, with her family by her side in her home of 48 years. She was born to Glenn and Grace Hunter on May 1, 1946 in Denver, CO; she was the fifth of six children.  She married Robert Williams on April 5, 1965; they celebrated 50 years together.

Sharon graduated from South High School in Denver in 1964; married Robert Duane Williams in 1965 in Denver and subsequently moved to Massachusetts after Robert had joined the Air Force and he was stationed at Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod. They welcomed a daughter, Stacey in 1966, when Robert was sent to Viet Nam, she and Stacey moved back to Denver. After Robert returned, they made their home in Brighton, CO. She had their only son, Brian, in 1968, and another daughter, Susan, in 1971.  

Sharon then worked for Gate City Steel, Zimmerman Metals, Adams County and retired in 2015 after 21 years as the Procurement Agent for the City of Brighton. 

She loved to garden, taking care of her roses and iris, listening to Christian music, baking cakes and spending time with friends.

Sharon is survived by her loving family: daughter Stacey (Joe) Murphy of Greeley, CO, son Brian (Linda) Williams of Greeley CO, and daughter Susan (Steve) Ponce de Leon of Charlton MA. She had 7 grandchildren: Timothy Murphy, Kimberly (Jake) Nesmith, Lindsey (Jon) Ball, Terrie (Lucas) Navarro, Bradin Williams, Joshua and Andrew Ponce de Leon as well as two great grandchildren Baylee Ball 4 months and Logan Navarro 2 months. She is also survived by sisters Della Covey, Susie (Chuck) Thompson, brother Butch Hunter and sister-in-law Dorothy Henry, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Jackie and Addison, brother-in-law Joe Gracey and sister-in-law Marilyn Hunter.

Services will be at 1 pm at Tabor Rice Funeral Home in Brighton, CO. An inurnment at Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton, CO. to follow the service.
