Stanley Lewis Hiller, age 63, passed away in Longmont, Colorado on January 9, 2020. He was born in Greeley, Colorado on March 23, 1956 to Lewis and Emma (Chambers) Hiller of Brighton. He attended Zion Lutheran School and Brighton High School. He then went on to Colorado State University where he graduated with a BS in Agricultural Education.
Stanley was a substitute teacher for many years, teaching biology and agriculture at the high school and middle school levels. While doing so, he ran his family farm, which was his biggest passion in life. Stanley was a hard worker with a great sense of humor. He was always very generous, helping friends and acquaintances even when he had little himself. He was a huge animal lover and raised cattle and chickens, selling milk and eggs and making his own cheese. There were always pets in his life, including over the years several dogs, countless cats, and even a raccoon. On the farm, Stanley also grew corn and alfalfa. At the time of his death, he had introduced beekeeping to his farm and was planning to bring in water buffalo.
Stanley is survived by a sister, Loree Winn of Franktown, Colorado, along with several extended family members. He is preceded in death by both parents, Lewis and Emma Hiller, along with a sister, Sharon Kohlmeier.
A funeral service honoring Stanley’s life will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Brighton followed by a graveside burial service at Elmwood Cemetery. Family, friends, and all of those whose lives Stanley touched are welcome to attend.
