Walter "Walt" Gene Vining, of Brighton, Colorado and formerly of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away on December 26, 2019 in Brighton.
Walt was born on September 5, 1935 in Alamosa, Colorado. A 1954 graduate of Centennial High School in Pueblo, Colorado, Walt then served in the Naval Reserve for 2 years while he worked at CF&I. Walt’s life work was as an Industrial Engineer and after retirement he loved working with his son at the Christmas tree farm in Sebastopol. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. A member of the Pueblo Antique Tractor and Engine Club, Walt loved to work on and restore old engines, tractors and antique washing machines.
Loving husband of Peggy; father of Steve (Cindy) Vining, Sebastopol, CA and Janet (Bert) Shull, Carson City, NV; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Walt is also survived by his siblings, Shirley Kirkendall, Denver; Robert (Barb) Vining, Cheyenne, WY, Edward (Irene) Vining, Temple, TX; Colleen Rogers, Denver; numerous nieces and nephews and his step-children, Jeff (Tina) Young, Colorado Springs; Joni (Pat) Sandoval, Brighton and 5 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Richard and Lucille Vining.
Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 3, 2020, beginning at 11:00 am, at the Alli Event Center, 100 S. Third Ave, Brighton, CO 80601.
