Alfonso A. Martinez “Dutch,” 85, of Brighton, Colorado, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Al was born January 30, 1941, in Brighton to parents Alfonso and Senorina (Abeyta) Martinez. He attended Brighton schools and served his country in the U.S. Army. In 1966, he married Elizabeth Gomez, and together they had their daughter, Joyce, and son, Andrew.
While living in Denver, he earned his associate degree in auto mechanics from CCD. The family moved to Brighton in 1979. He worked for, and retired from, the USPS after 30 years of service and loved his job immensely. He thrived on being outside as a letter carrier and walking his route near Cherry Creek.
In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Broncos, photography, working on cars, and fixing almost anything around the house. Once a day, he might indulge in a little chocolate, made in Germany.
He is preceded in death by both parents; two sisters, Mary and Grace; and brother Ernest.
Al is survived by his daughter, Joyce Martinez (Nestor Aguillon); son, Andrew Martinez; grandson, Ryan Bennett; sister, Viola Rael; longtime girlfriend, Anita Inman and her son, Thomas Lamba; and many nieces and nephews.
