Alfred Saussotte, 79, a resident of Colorado for 26 years, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2023. Born in California, Alfred was raised in Singapore and the Philippines and was an alumnus of Downside Abbey (Somerset, England).
Inquisitive and curious about the world and other cultures, he left the classroom environment of Georgetown University to continue his education by traveling all over the world. A lover of language and song, he relished reading, Scrabble, creating acrostic puzzles, and Shape Note singing. He also loved photography, swimming and walks in nature. A lifelong tinkerer and fixer, he once restored the church bells of Denver’s Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, carefully replacing the ropes and recalibrating the bells to achieve the proper pitch. His career included supervising seismic teams in oil and gas exploration, hotel management, and real estate. His work took him and his family from South America, across multiple states in the USA, and to Guam.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, Rosanne and William, and son Gabriel. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Saussotte; sisters Madeleine Saussotte, Elaine Saussotte, and Marielle Ponce; daughters Camille Saussotte, Valerie Saussotte, and Marguerite Goto; grandchildren Iwai, Terasu, and Ha’ane; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
