Alma Angelina Guardiola

Alma Guardiola, born in San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Guerrero Palma and Maria del Refugio (Cuca) Sanchez, was the beloved sister of Ildefonso (Poncho). She married Armando Guardiola on October 9, 1976, and together they shared 31 years of marriage before parting ways in 2007.

Alma spent the majority of her life in Commerce City, CO, where she lovingly raised her four children. She had a passion for cooking and enjoyed preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. Everyone looked forward to her enchiladas, menudo, and homemade flour tortillas, which were always a source of comfort and joy. Tamale season was a special time, as she generously shared her skills and warmth, either teaching others her techniques or gifting them with a delicious dozen.

Spending time with her grandchildren brought Alma immense joy. Whether it was coloring with them or cheering them on at their sports and theater events, she was always their biggest fan. Alma was her children's and grandchildren's biggest supporter, always there for them, whether it was taking them to school, events, or caring for them in times of need.

Alma worked at Little Giants Learning Center, where she prepared amazing meals for the children, touching many lives over the years. She also worked for many years at the Flea Market, where she dedicated herself to her work and made many lasting friendships.

She loved talking and visiting with her cousins from Mexico, El Paso, Brighton, and Denver. These visits were always filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories. Alma was always excited to see her nieces when they would come visit from Juarez, or when she was able to visit them herself. Their time together was always filled with love and happiness.

Alma cared deeply about everyone in her life. She was always willing to help others, whether near or far. Alma opened her heart and her home to all, making sure everyone felt welcome and loved.

In the last couple of months of her life, Alma was spoiled by her boyfriend, Marty, who took her out to eat, shopping, and made her laugh every day. She also loved getting ready and going out to the baile on Sundays with Marty, where they would dance and listen to music together. Their time together was filled with love and happiness.

Alma had a love for games and entertainment, enjoying shows like The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She was known for her competitive spirit, particularly when playing Texas Hold'em poker or Conquian with her family—though she had a habit of winning by “cheating” with a smile. Her brother-in-laws would often spoil her with her favorite meals. Alma also loved playing Bingo, and her quick wit made her a tough opponent in Lotería.

Alma is survived by her son, Armando Jr. (Kristin) Guardiola, and his five children: Carlos, Iliana, Aemiliano, Thalia, and Diego; her son, Jose Luis (Lisa) Guardiola, and their son, Jose-Luis; her daughter, Alma Celia (Kenny) Martinez, and their children: Karyme, Kenny Jr., and Anali; and her son, Pablo (Janessa) Guardiola, and their sons: Daniel and Matías and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother.

Alma’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Alma Guardiola, nacida en San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua, México, hija de Guerrero Palma y María del Refugio (Cuca) Sánchez, fue la amada hermana de Ildefonso (Poncho). Se casó con Armando Guardiola el 9 de octubre de 1976, y juntos compartieron 31 años de matrimonio antes de divorciarse en 2007.

Alma pasó la mayor parte de su vida en Commerce City, CO, donde crió con amor a sus cuatro hijos. Le apasionaba cocinar y disfrutaba preparando deliciosas comidas para su familia y amistades. Todos esperaban con ansias sus enchiladas, menudo y tortillas de harina caseras, que siempre eran una fuente de consuelo y alegría. La temporada de tamales era un momento especial, ya que compartía generosamente sus habilidades y calidez, ya sea enseñando a otros sus técnicas o regalándoles una deliciosa docena.

Pasar tiempo con sus nietos le traía a Alma una inmensa alegría. Siempre fue su mayor fan, ya fuera coloreando con ellos o animándolos en sus eventos deportivos y teatrales. Alma fue un pilar para sus hijos y nietos, siempre presente para ellos, ya fuera llevándolos a la escuela, a eventos o cuidándolos en momentos de necesidad.

Alma trabajó en Little Giants Learning Center, donde preparó comidas increíbles para los niños, tocando muchas vidas a lo largo de los años. También trabajó durante muchos años en el Flea Market, donde se dedicó a su trabajo e hizo muchas amistades verdaderas.

Le encantaba hablar y visitar a sus primos de México, El Paso, Brighton y Denver. Estas visitas siempre estaban llenas de alegría, risas y recuerdos preciados. Alma siempre se emocionaba al ver a sus sobrinas cuando venían de visita desde Juárez, o cuando ella podía visitarlas. Su tiempo juntos siempre estaba lleno de amor y felicidad.

Alma se preocupaba profundamente por todos en su vida. Siempre estaba dispuesta a ayudar a los demás, ya fuera cerca o lejos. Alma abrió su corazón y su hogar a todos, asegurándose de que todos se sintieran bienvenidos y amados.

En los últimos meses de su vida, Alma fue consentida por su novio, Marty, quien la llevaba a comer, de compras y la hacía reír todos los días. También le encantaba arreglarse y salir a bailar los domingos con Marty, donde bailaban y escuchaban música juntos. Su tiempo juntos estuvo lleno de amor y felicidad.

Alma amaba los juegos y el entretenimiento, disfrutando de programas como The Price is Right y Wheel of Fortune. Era conocida por su espíritu competitivo, particularmente cuando jugaba al póquer Texas Hold'em o al Conquian con su familia, aunque tenía la costumbre de ganar "haciendo trampa" con una sonrisa. Sus cuñados a menudo la consentía con sus comidas favoritas. El Bingo era otro de los juegos favoritos de Alma, y su espíritu competitivo la hacía una jugadora experta en la Lotería.

A Alma le sobrevive su hijo, Armando Jr. (Kristin) Guardiola, y hijos: Carlos, Iliana, Aemiliano, Thalia y Diego; su hijo, José Luis (Lisa Lovato) Guardiola, y su hijo, José Luis; su hija, Alma Celia (Kenny) Martínez, y sus hijos: Karyme, Kenny Jr. y Anali; y su hijo, Pablo (Janessa) Guardiola, y sus hijos: Daniel y Matías y muchas sobrinas, sobrinos y primas. La precedieron en la muerte sus padres y su hermano.
