Giavanna (Gigi) Marie Ortega passed away hours before her mother and father, Katie and Jerome (Bubba) Ortega Jr., were expecting to welcome her into the world on January 17, 2024. Knowing she was happy and safe in heaven, Katie gave birth to Giavanna with Jerome by her side, under the care of the wonderful doctors from Bella Health and Wellness, and the incredible nurses of the labor and delivery department at Swedish Medical Center.
Holding Giavanna and seeing her beautiful face was a great comfort to Katie and Jerome, and they were able to spend precious time with her before returning home. While they were in the hospital, family and friends were able to come meet her and hold her as well.
Even though she was born sleeping, Giavanna brought a great light into the world, and her parents see it lighting up their lives and the lives of those around them more each day. Her short life has been a gift, and they invite everyone to celebrate her with them.
Giavanna is preceded in death by her three older siblings Adam Joy, Hope Ursula, and Judah Glory, as well as her great-grandparents Barbara and Jerry Torvinen, Doris and Nathan Mascitelli, and Saturnino (Tony) Ortega Sr.
She is survived by her parents, Katie and Jerome (Bubba) Ortega Jr.; grandparents Pat and Mike Torvinen, and Julie and Jerome Ortega Sr.; aunts Nicole Montoya (Ortega), Ashlie Curiel (Ortega), and Kristen Torvinen; and numerous beloved cousins and other family members.
In lieu of flowers, Katie and Jerome ask that you consider donating in honor of Giavanna to Bella Health and Wellness, where they have received incredible care.
