Bernie Arguello Obituary

Our precious mother and grandmother, Bernie Arguello, received her eternal reward and entrance in to heaven on April 29, 2020 at the age of 95. Bernie lived a long, healthy life and loved her family so very much. She loved attending church and nothing brought her more joy than singing praises and worship to her lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Bernie learned how to love God and love people, by the example that was set before her, from her father and minister, the late, Reverend Hercualno Muñiz. Bernie died peacefully at the Avamere Transitional Care and Rehabilitation facility in Brighton, Colorado. She will be greatly missed by many!

Bernie was born in Llano, New Mexico to Herculano and Abelina (Sanchez) Muñiz. Bernie was swept off her feet by a young, hard-working man named, Lucries “Luke” Arguello. Luke and Bernie fell in love and got married in Taos, New Mexico on April 22, 1941. While living in New Mexico, Luke and Bernie had five children: Henry, Floyd, Elma (who passed away as a young child) Fred and Rosie. Bernie’s husband Luke, worked as a sheepherder in Cokeville, Wyoming and always returned home, to New Mexico to be with his family, where Bernie raised their children and took care of their home.

In 1950, the Arguello family moved to Brighton, Colorado. Bernie started working at Rose Medical Center shortly after they moved and in 1953, the youngest of the family was born, their daughter Elsie. Bernie retired from Rose Medical Center after working forty five years plus.

Bernie was preceded in death by her daughter Elma Arguello, her parents Herculano and Abelina Muñiz, her husband Luke Arguello, her son Henry Arguello, her son-in law George “Sonny” Esquibel, her granddaughter Charmaine Vasquez and grandson Eric Espinoza.

Bernie is survived by her son Floyd Arguello of Brighton, Colorado; her son and daughter in law Fred and Susie Arguello, of Brighton, Colorado; her daughter, Rose Esquibel of Thornton, Colorado; her son in law and daughter, Don and Elsie Espinoza of Brighton, Colorado; and daughter in law, Dee Arguello of Wichita, Kansas.

Bernie had 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 5 children, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Bernie loved her family very much and prayed for them daily. She loved her church and was a faithful member of Sendero De La Cruz/Pathway Assembly of God Church in Brighton, Colorado for many years. Later in life she faithfully attended Thrive Church, in Thornton, Colorado. More than anything, Bernie loved her Jesus and she loved singing her “coritos” (old church songs & hymns). Mom and grandma will be greatly missed and her memory, smile and infectious love, will forever live in our hearts.

A private family service will be held, with burial at Olinger Cemetery in Thornton, CO.
