Brian Kent Smith

Brian Kent Smith was born on November 3, 1967, in Denver, CO to Jerry and Katherine Smith and lived in Aurora, CO until he was 7 years old.  The family moved to the Brighton, CO area in 1975, spending the rest of his childhood and teenage years.   

Brian was baptized at Aurora Community Baptist Church in 1975.  His baptism verse was Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and He with me.  We believe he has been welcomed into heaven by the great family of believers.

While growing up, he enjoyed playing with his three brothers, Kevin, Curtis and Justin.  Brian enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours trapping during the winter months around Brighton. He also enjoyed fishing and camping in the summer on the annual family trips in the mountains around Hahn’s Peak, CO.  During High school, Brian played the trumpet in band and was a member of the Bulldog swim team.   He graduated from Brighton High School in 1986.

Brian and Pamela Neely were high school sweethearts and were married in 1990.  They were blessed with two daughters, Caitlyn (1994), and Courtney (1997).  Brian enjoyed traveling and loved their family vacations visiting domestic and international destinations.   

Shortly after Brian and Pam were married, Brian enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Saratoga where he was injured and was medically discharged.  After the Navy, Brian attended college at University of Colorado where he earned his Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A. Sc.), Accounting in 1996.  He parlayed his degree into a very successful career with TransLease where he elevated to the SVP, Credit & Collections.  His last position was with Vectra Bank of Colorado as a Vice President of Commercial banking. 

Brian suddenly passed away December 30, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, CO., he was 55 years old. 

Brian is survived by his former wife, Pamela Smith (Neely), Broomfield, CO; Daughters, Caitlyn Ashley Smith, Broomfield, CO; Courtney Nicole Smith, Longmont, CO.  Parents, Jerry E. Smith & Katherine L. Smith (Aden) Burlington CO.  Brothers, Kevin L. Smith, (Angela), Lake Villa IL; Curtis A. Smith, (Jennifer), McCook, NE; Justin E. Smith, Burlington, CO and six nieces and nephews.
