Carolyn Egan, beloved sister and aunt, passed peacefully at home on October 27, 2022. Born in Denver on January 2, 1925 to William and Vendla Egan, Carolyn was the 2nd of what would be 8 children. Growing up on the farm east of Denver molded her into a capable and independent woman. Carolyn began working at Montgomery Wards in 1944 as a clerk and held many roles in the accounting department until her retirement in 1982 when Montgomery Wards closed their Denver operations. While working in Denver she maintained an apartment with her longtime friend but almost always came home to the farm on the weekends to help with the many chores. After retiring, Carolyn moved home to the farm and lived with her mother and brothers Stanley and Donald. In 2000, the 3 siblings moved to Henderson, where Carolyn lived with both until Stanley’s passing in 2005 and Donald’s passing in July of 2022. She lived independently until her passing.
Carolyn was a much loved aunt to her nieces and nephews. An excellent baker, she had many favorite recipes that she shared with her nieces teaching them as they grew up. The cookie jar was always filled with homemade treats. Carolyn was a long time member of Box Elder Friendship Club (created in 1933), serving as secretary from 1982 until the time of her death.
Carolyn is survived by her brothers William (Mary Jo) Egan, Arthur (Edna) Egan, Clinton (Gayle) Egan and 12 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Marion (Richard) Finley, Frances (Emil) Hose, Stanley Egan and Donald Egan.
