Cecelia "CeCe" (Buttacavoli) Rescigno

Cecelia "CeCe" (Buttacavoli) Rescigno, age 84, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, laughter, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Born on April 7, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, CeCe was the beloved daughter of Angelo and Angelina (Mazzarella) Buttacavoli. She grew up alongside her twin sister, Janet, in a large and loving Italian family surrounded by her cherished grandmother, Giovanna Oliveri ("Jenny"), and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who shaped the strong sense of family that would guide her throughout her life. Some of her fondest childhood memories were summer evenings spent enjoying Italian ice from the neighborhood stand around the corner and sitting with her father watching boxing matches, a tradition she remembered and talked about throughout her life.

CeCe's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Rescigno of Cave Creek, Arizona; her son, Quentin Rescigno (Linda) of Reno, Nevada; her beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie Fly (Hubertus "Beer") of Berlin, Germany, Megan Rescigno of Baltimore, Maryland, Scott Rescigno of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Jackson Erb of Boulder, Colorado; and her twin sister, Janet Evans of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Following her graduation from Saint Maria Goretti High School in Philadelphia, CeCe married and moved to Towson, Maryland, where she built a life centered on family, service, and community. She volunteered at Sheppard Pratt Hospital, leading crafts and activities for patients, and became a fixture at her children's schools. She coordinated countless school events, proudly served as a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader for her daughter, and somehow managed to chauffeur her children to swimming, basketball, softball, tennis, baton twirling, and every other activity that helped shape their futures.

Professionally, CeCe's warmth and outgoing personality made her a natural fit as the welcoming face at Coldwell Banker, where her quick wit and friendly smile brightened the days of customers and coworkers alike. She also served as President of the Towson Jaycees Women's Auxiliary during a time when women were not yet permitted to become full members of the organization. Her leadership, determination, and commitment to service reflected the strength of character that defined her life.

As an empty nester, CeCe embraced life on Maryland's Eastern Shore, becoming a familiar and beloved presence throughout Berlin and Ocean Pines. She loved the ocean and the coastal lifestyle she called home for many years. As Director of the Berlin Senior Center, she wore many hats—coordinating volunteers, planning activities, organizing events, and even driving the bus to pick up seniors. It was in Ocean Pines that she met her dear friend Virginia Davis, who preceded her in death.  Together they shared countless adventures, casino trips, and memories that became legendary among family and friends.

After the birth of her grandson Jackson, CeCe moved to Longmont, Colorado, where she treasured lunch and shopping trips with her daughter and granddaughter, casino outings with her son, and her weekly dates with her grandson. Whether browsing stores, sharing a meal, telling stories, or dropping nickels into slot machines, she had a gift for making every moment special and every person feel loved.

In Longmont, she worked at Walgreens, where she often joked that she spent more time shopping than working—a story that never failed to make people laugh. She also volunteered at The Bridge Assisted Living community, organizing crafts and activities for residents. One of her most cherished acts of service was creating handmade teddy bears for newborns at Longmont United Hospital. Many of these bears were crafted from fabric featuring her beloved Denver Broncos, and each one carried a little piece of CeCe's warmth, creativity, and love.

Known for her generosity, kindness, and joyful spirit, CeCe had an infectious laugh, a radiant smile, and a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where countless meals, celebrations, conversations, and family gatherings took place. Proud of her Italian heritage and her family's roots in Belmonte Mezzagno, Sicily, she was rarely happier than when preparing homemade Italian dishes for those she loved. There was always room at her table and always enough food for one more guest. Through her cooking, storytelling, and boundless hospitality, she created a home filled with comfort, laughter, and togetherness.

CeCe was preceded in death by her devoted canine companions, Cuddles and Sara and her beloved cat, Lala. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor CeCe's memory are encouraged to donate to the Longmont Humane Society. And if you're looking for a tribute that would have made her smile, put a nickel into a slot machine, say a little prayer, and think of CeCe.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that somewhere, CeCe is enjoying a winning streak, sharing stories with old friends and family, throwing a ball for Cuddles and Sara, watching a great boxing match, and keeping watch over all those she loved.
