Charlie “Big C” Weber
Charlie was born July 3rd 1956 in Stockton California to Eugene Weber and Helen Whitby; was the third of four children and also had two half sisters. He married right out of high school to Kathy Hardt, to which they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year on June 28th .
Charlie spent his early youngster years running around Lodi California, and then developed his true stomping grounds in Aurora Colorado. After he married, he moved to Leadville Colorado to work in the Climax Mine, where he met his lifelong bud Kurt. With the birth of his first child, he was hired onto Colorado Public Service, to which was able to retire from in 2014. During that time, he saved the lives of fellow Transmission Linemen, was a “Hot Stick” Instructor, and suffered a few major injuries to himself when working overnight in the Trouble Department.
Charlie spent the majority of his adult life in Lakewood Colorado, where he raised his three children and provided good lives for several kinds of animals (25+). He participated in the Lakewood Riding Club with his wife Kathy & their horses. From 1987-1993 he enjoyed having “Friday Jam Nights” as the ‘Lakewood Underground’ where he made several life-long friends and created fond memories.
In the early 2000’s he was invited to several motorcycle rallies by FTMC: ‘Free Tomorrow Motorcycle Club’ in Kansas, an area to which he grew a fondness for. After the loss of his third child April in 2012 and his retirement in 2014, he and his wife traveled in an RV to spend time with other family members in California and New Mexico before coming back to Colorado in 2018, and then eventually locating his vacation place in Hill City Kansas in 2022.
Odd for most people, Charlie has been able to stay in touch with several of his school-age friends throughout his life. He continued this pattern with his co-workers, Jam buddies, and even the friends of his children. He openly gave his heart to everyone; he was a helper, a supporter, a protector, a problem sounding board, a shoulder to cry on, truly a life coach of sorts…. That is a testament to how compassionate he was.
Charlie was good at anything with his hands: Musical Instruments, Art, Carpentry, Electronics, Rope braiding & knots, Mechanics & so much more.
Charlie’s Passions included: Playing the Guitar-Bass-Keyboard & Singing, Socializing with friends & family, Driving his muscle cars & motorcycles, and just plain being a Sturdy Rock for Everyone he met.
Charlie is survived by his wife Kathy, children Angie & Collin, brother & sister: Harlan & Debbie, half-sisters: Jeanette & Connie, several nieces & nephews with their children, and his service dog Buddy.
