Charles “Chuck” Bender passed away into the arms of Jesus on June 4, 2025, at the age of 80. Chuck Was born September 24, 1944, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Arno and Laverne (Rodewald) Bender. The family moved to Colorado in 1948 and settled in the Ft. Collins and Longmont area.
Chuck graduated from Longmont High in 1962 where he played drums in the pep band and orchestra. He went on and received an associate’s degree in drafting and engineering. He started his working career at Western Electric (ATT) in Aurora in 1964.
Chuck met his future wife Beverly de Jonge in Longmont, and they married in 1965. That year he also enlisted in the Army national Guard for six years. Chuck was laid off from Western Electric in 1976 and then started his own business with the encouragement of friends because he made the best bratwurst, (a Family recipe). So, in 1976, he started Benders Brat Haus in Aurora. With lots of hard work, he made the business successful. In 1998 Chuck sold the business due to a diagnosis of lymphoma which required a stem cell transplant. After recovery, he was very good at doing handyman jobs. He was accomplished at doing so many things. As time went on, he suffered from many other cancers which took his life.
Chuck is survived by his wife Bev, sister Sue Bender, sisters in law Diane Wolf and Marcy Haire, brother-in-law Bill De Jonge, several nieces and nephews and Wisconsin cousins. Chuck was predeceased by his parents, brother DuWayne Bender, sister Sharon Schooley, sister-in-law Jo Beth Bender and special nephew Danny Bender.

An informal service will take place at the Alli Event Center on July 10th at 11:00 am followed by a light lunch.
