Cheryl K. (Hutcherson) Zabel of Brighton passed away on May 7, 2014 after a long illness. She was born in Denver in February of 1945 and grew up in Brighton graduating from Brighton High School in 1963.
Cheryl began working for General Motors after high school and continued until retirement. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Lorraine Chapter No. 52, and was a past Worthy Matron. Cheryl had many interests and a love of animals, especially cats, and was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
Cheryl is survived by her son, William (Bill) Zabel of Brighton; her sisters Sandra Kallsen of Phoenix, AZ, Sydney (Alvin) Marcus of Brighton, and Deborah (John) Raile of Edson, KS. She was known as Aunt Cheri to her nephews and nieces, as well as her many great nephews and nieces and great-great nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Zabel, brother-in-law Kent Kallsen, nephews Ty and Kort Kallsen and parents Grace and Galen Hutcherson.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton, CO.
