Crespin Serna was born October 24, 1923 and passed away December 27th, 2024 in Brighton at the age of 101.
Crespin was born in Mercedes, Texas to Valdomero Serna and Fidela Hernandez. He “stole” his wife, Carmen, at the age of 15 with a getaway car waiting to take them to their next adventure. They were married July 18, 1942.
Crespin and Carmen were migrant farm workers, traveling from state to state following the crops. They eventually had six children and chose to settle and make a home in Colorado. He continued to work in the agriculture industry, working with several farms around Brighton and he eventually found his permanent work place with Sakata Farms. He retired from Sakata Farms after many years of hard work.
He was a loving father and grandfather. Crespin loved playing pranks on others, he loved his work and he loved telling stories. Survivors include his children; Guadalupe (Juan-deceased) Robles, Guillermo (Raquel-deceased) Serna; Fernando (Connie) Serna; Juan Antonio Serna; Rosie Serna; and Irasema Macias Gonzalez, 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren along with many nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Carmen, his parents Valdomero Serna and Fidela Hernandez, his siblings Jose, Julian, Balta, Panchita, Inez, Gregorio, Hilario; as well as his grandchildren David Robles and Ernest W. Serna.
We would like to thank all the people who were a part of his life, as well as the team at Compassionate Hospice Care who provided exceptional care for our dad during his final days.
