Dale Allen passed away on October 22, 2020, after an eight month battle with cancer.
A native Coloradoan, Dale was born June 8, 1946, to William and Margaret Allen, the first of their five children. He attended Denver Public Schools. He served in the US Army from 66-68. Dale was employed at Frontier Airlines before finding the job of his dreams as a heavy equipment salesman. His work took him to the western slope and Wyoming. Being on the road, the less-traveled ones, were ideal.
After retirement, he worked as a ranger and starter at Riverdale in Adams County. An avid fisherman Dale had favorite haunts in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. And many tales of trips with serious fishing buddies. He was introduced to golf by his friend Cliff Huffman in the early ’70s and remained hooked on the sport. He played regularly in Adams County and was a member of the men’s club at Riverdale. A high point was his hole in one on the 17 at the Knolls.
Dale is survived by his wife, Debbie; brothers, Gary and Glen (Phyllis); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Greg; and sister Jill.
Donations can be made in his name to giving.cu.edu to the gastroesophageal research fund, any youth golf program, or a charity of your choice.
A Memorial Service was held at Fort Logan National Cemetery November 10, 2020 at 1:15 p.m., Staging Area "C".
A Celebration of Dale's life will be Thursday, September 23, 2021, beginning at 2:00 p.m., at the Riverdale Golf Course Clubhouse Banquet Room. You are encouraged to bring stories and photographs if you have any available.
