Dale Taylor Obituary

Dale “Steve” Taylor, 68, of Erie CO, passed away on January 17th, 2023, from a long-term illness.

Steve was born on August 8th, 1954, to Donald Taylor and Nora Teter in Long Beach, California. After Steve turned 20 he enlisted in the Army where he served from 1975 to 1978 in active duty as a Specialist 4 Fire Control Operator based at Homestead Air Force Base and South Korea DMZ. Later on, in life Steve would again serve as an Army Reservist from 1987 to 1991.

After completing his service in the Army, Steve worked as a Heavy Line Mechanic and Transmission Specialist. Later in life he would go on to be a Heavy Equipment Operator working on several construction projects including one to build out the I-70 corridor in Denver.

In 1993, Steve met Barbara Rose while playing foosball at Dilingers in Lafayette, CO. They were married in 1996. Steve and Barbara shared 4 children from previous marriages, Michelle, Brandy, Brian, and Kyle.  They lived in Louisville, CO until moving to Erie, CO in 2003.

Throughout his life he was known as a very gregarious person who made many friends in his community. Most recently Steve spent his free time in his garage restoring a 1965 Ford Arntz AC Cobra. When he wasn’t working in the garage Steve enjoyed taking his 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 on joy rides across the Front Range and up to Bandimere Speedway in Golden, CO.

Steve was predeceased by his parents Donald and Nora, his sister Debbie, and his daughter Brandy. He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Michelle, granddaughter Kennedy, his two sons Brian and Kyle, and his brothers Dennis and David.

Services will be held at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton, CO on 1/25 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Wounded Warriors Project, an organization Steve felt strongly about.
