Darla J. Cook was born in Denver, Colorado, on January 1, 1960, to Salmo S. and Eva J. Cook and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 17th. She grew up in Commerce City, Colorado, alongside her three brothers and sister. Darla attended Adams City High School and graduated in 1978. After high school, she pursued cosmetology at Lavonne's Beauty Academy and worked as a hairstylist for many years before transitioning to a career with Metro Brokers Real Estate.
In 1986, Darla met Jack—her life partner and soulmate. Together, they welcomed their son, Samuel, in 1996. Darla chose to become a stay-at-home mom, devoting herself wholeheartedly to raising Samuel.
She enjoyed spending time at the lake, being with her family, reading, listening to music, and celebrating the holidays. Darla was known for her thoughtfulness, intelligence, and eloquence, and she took immense pride in her family.
Darla will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Jack Horn; her son, Samuel Cook-Horn; her sister, Carol (Michael) Forte; her brother, Leslie Cook; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Salmo and Eva Cook, and two brothers, Kenneth and Sam Cook.
