Obituary

Darrel Lee McCrumb

October 11, 1965, to July 28, 2022

Darrel Lee McCrumb was born October 11, 1965. He passed away on July 28, 2022, at the age of 56.  Darrel was adopted by Richard Dale McCrumb and Esther Viola McCrumb (Rowley). He is survived by his wife - SuzAnn McCrumb (Wokersin), daughter - Victoria Lynn McCrumb, Sister - Carol Lynn Chavez (McCrumb), and nephew - Garrett Lee Gibbons.  Preceding Darrel were Richard Dale McCrumb (father), Esther Viola McCrumb (Rowley) (Mother), Theodore Frank Workersin (Father-in-law), and Darlene Ann Workersin (Ehrlich) (Mother-in-law).

Darrel grew up in Fort Lupton, CO and lived there most of his life. Since 1994, he lived on the McCrumb family farm (The Carol Lee Farm) just north of Fort Lupton. Darrel was married to Suzann Wokersin on March 10, 1985. In 2003, Darrel and SuzAnn adopted their daughter, Victoria Lynn McCrumb. He was a proud and thankful husband and father.

Darrel graduated from Fort Lupton High School in 1984, where he and his wife met. He worked for Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) for over 40 years, starting as a truck washer in high school and moving up to the position of transportation manager.

He was passionate about his involvement in the Fort Lupton United Methodist Church, serving several years as a youth leader. He wrote and shared sermons, officiated weddings, and sometimes funerals, for those young adults who grew up with him in Youth Group. He served on three mission trips, two in New Mexico and one in Eastern Colorado.  He loved taking the youth group to different Christian music festivals across the United States. He also loved to take them Christmas Caroling during the holiday season.

One of his great joys was riding his motorcycle with his friends, attending Sturgis, and just taking in the countryside and good company. You could find him many evenings in the garage, building, repairing, and creating must haves for the farm. He was exceptionally gifted at finding the solution to any need.

Darrel’s kind heart was evident to all in the way he cared for his family, friends, and even strangers. He was a man of strong faith. He was always willing to lend a hand and an ear to anyone who needed him. His presence in all these things will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Services for Darrel will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Fort Lupton United Methodist Church. Donations in his memory may be made to Bristol Hospice of Northern Colorado at 3770 Puritan Way, Unit E, Frederick, CO  80516, or Fort Lupton United Methodist Church/Hope at Miracle House at 306 Park Ave., Fort Lupton, CO  80621.
