David Brasher Obituary

David was born on January 29, 1939 in Chetopa, Kansas to Franklin and Mattie (Clark) Brasher as the second of five children. After attending school, David worked for Gene Good Trucking Company in Canon City, CO, busting tires.  During this time, a friend of David’s introduced him to the sister of the girl this friend was dating.  She was Charlotte Darlene Jacobsen.  From that point on, love was in the air and a beautiful history began.

David and Charlotte were joined by God into the one-flesh union of Holy Matrimony on December 25th, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Canon City, CO.  The Lord blessed David and Charlotte’s marriage of 62 years with three daughters; Theresa, Gloria and Mary Ann.  Soon after their marriage David was baptized into the name of the Triune God on March 12th, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church and became a child of the King of Kings, with whom he walked for the remainder of the 84 years of earthly life allotted to him.  Four months later, in July of 1961, also at Trinity Lutheran Church, David made a public confession of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, becoming a Confirmed member of Christ’s Church.

After their marriage, David did ranching for the owner of Gene Good Trucking in Westcliffe, CO and then worked at the Gilman mine in Gilman, CO.  After moving to Aurora, CO David worked in the Samsonite Luggage factory before he became a framer and carpenter in the construction industry where he worked for the bulk of his career.

Later David and Charlotte opened C&D Cleaning Company where they worked together for 20 years until their retirement.

David loved riding his bicycle all around the Front Range and in the mountains.  He and Gloria once rode their bikes to Westcliffe and also above Carter Lake.  David enjoyed camping with Charlotte and their Good Timers camping club until just a couple weeks before his death.  He also was active in the Lions Club in Lochbuie, CO.

As a longtime member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, David used the talent God gave him in carpentry and construction in countless ways as a member of the Board of Trustees, helping to maintain the building and property.

One of David’s greatest passions was his family who say that David was always “the biggest kid”, even among his children and grandchildren.  Every Christmas, he was the one who was most eager to get to the presents, coming into the kid’s rooms and pulling their toes to wake them up.

David is survived by Charlotte; his three daughters, Theresa (& Dana) Rock of Bradenton, FL; Gloria (& Joel) Mount of Hudson, CO; and Mary Ann (& Raymond) George of Denver, CO; his three siblings, Albert Brasher, Patty Holcomb and Mary Garcia; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Charolette Scott.

For many years, David has had numerous battles with various kinds of cancer and has been a strong witness to all people regarding God’s mighty and miraculous work in seeing him through countless the treatments that have taken him in and out of remission a number of times.

After his most recent diagnosis of colon and liver cancer and in the midst of his current treatments, on April 26th, 2023 David’s Lord held out His hand and called him to enter into eternal paradise.  David now rests in the everlasting arms of Jesus where he awaits the final resurrection to our heavenly home on the day of Christ’s promised return.

To God Alone Be Glory Forever and Ever!
