David John Coffey, 47, of Brighton Colorado, passed away on June 23, 2010 at his home after a six-month battle with cancer. He was born to John J. Coffey and Iva Jean Coffey in Brighton on August 23, 1962. He was the youngest of three children, Shirley, Leo, and then David. He was raised in Denver and went to school in Brighton.
David married Diane Rupert on November 15, 1980 and they had three children, Lisa, John, and Amy. He enjoyed many outdoor activities like hunting, camping, and fishing, as well as working on cars and constructing items from wood. Playing the guitar with his friends, watching football, racing cars, Pool and blackjack were some of his favorite past times. David made a living through many avenues, as a machinist, salesperson, truck driver, mechanic, electrician, and even attempted several business adventures in construction and remodeling.
He will be sadly missed by the entire family and all who knew him, including but not limited to, his father John Coffey and his brother Leo Coffey and wife Beth. His wife Diane, daughter Lisa Shaffer, son John Coffey and wife Amanda, and daughter Amy Golec and husband Jason. His four grandchildren, Ariel, Alaina, Abagail, and Brenden, with a new arrival expected in January. His many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
He is preceded by his mother, Iva Jean Coffey and his sister, Shirley Skeggs.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 10:00am at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home. Gathering of family and friends after the service will be held at East Gate Clubhouse. Donations can be made in memory of David Coffey to the University of Colorado Cancer Center, where he was treated.
