David Emilio Reyes, 77, passed away January 18. 2026 at home in Fort Lupton, CO. He was reunited with his wife of 43 years of Carolyn (Ninea) Reyes.
David was born in Fort Lupton, Sept. 9, 1948 to Louis and Lupe (Martinez) Reyes. He was one of 7 children.
He attended Fort Lupon High School. Dave was a proud army veteran who served honorably in Vietnam and did a tour in country 1969- 1971.
He worked at Koppers Industries in Denver for 40 + years with his father and later many years with his son Gabe. He was a skilled crane operator and proud Steelworkers Union President of Koppers Denver.
He married Carolyn, in 1976 and had 5 children with her, Richard (Eloise) Reyes, Gabe (Danelle) Reyes, Terri (Augustin) Tovar, Marc Reyes, and Eddie (Rebecca)Reyes. David came into the marriage with 2 other children David (Angie) Reyes and Tina (Carlos) Hernandez.
Known fondly as "Davey" to those who knew him best, he carried with him a quiet strength and a steadfast heart that reflected the spirit of his work ethic and love of family. His house was home to many, and no one was ever turned away.
He was an avid bowler and pool player. He loved watching Duke Bluedevil basketball, and his passion for his Broncos was 2nd to none.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ninea, his granddaughter Brittany Ann, Godson Leroy Trjuillo, grandson Sebastian David, and sisters Vicki Vilapando and Kathy Reyes
He survived by his loving and grateful children, his siblings Louie Reyes, Tony Reyes, Helen Rangel, and Janie Romero. He leaves behind 15 grandchildren, numerous God-children, and a few great grand children. He was a cousin to many and had a group that he held close to heart all through life, a brother to the end, a Nino that was so much more , a grandpa like no other and a father that cannot be replaced.
