Debora Lynn Graves was called home to be with our Lord on the morning of October 3, 2024. She was born February 13, 1963, in Memphis, TN to Benjamin and Florence Spencer, the sixth of ten children. Debbie attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic School through 8th grade, graduated from Treadwell High School in 1981 and went on to attend State Technical Institute. She married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Michael Graves,on June 11, 1983. After raising her children, Debbie worked at the United Club at Denver International Airport as a bartender where she enjoyed meeting people from all over the world.
Debbie embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and unlimited generosity, that were on display throughout her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Even after she was grown and had started her adult life, Debbie always made time for her younger sisters. There were many weekends spent hosting sleepovers, taking them to the mall and any other activity important to their young lives. When her children were born, her nurturing spirit soared. Debbie’s life was devoted to her family and she loved spending time with Mike, Kelly, Matt and her precious granddaughters.
You could find Debbie enjoying hobbies that included those she loved, like playing bingo, building jigsaw puzzles, trying her luck with a scratch off lottery ticket, thrifting, and attending any activity the kids were involved in. Being a lover of mathematics, she even enjoyed helping her granddaughters with their math studies. Her lighthearted spirit and great sense of humor will live on through her family. They will miss having access to “Deb MD” and the great stories she would tell, “ya know? (big sniff).” They will also fondly remember the delightful challenge of watching movies with her, as her excitement often led to lively conversations. Her laugh would light up a room and bring joy to everyone around her.
Debbie is survived by her adoring family; husband, Michael D. Graves; children, Kelly (Andrue Pinney) Graves and Matthew (Nicole) Graves; grandchildren, Presley Mae and Kennedy Lynn Pinney, Brooklyn Fay and Kinsley Marie Graves; siblings; Benjamin Spencer Jr., Cecilia Ellis, Phillip Spencer, Kenneth Spencer, Laura (Jake) Logue, Teresa (Clint) Norwood, Amy (Mark) Huddleston; brother-in-law, Johnny Crunk and numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Spencer Sr. and Florence Spencer; Sisters, Elizabeth Spencer and Goldie Crunk; and nephews, Isaac Logue and Spenser Norwood.
