Delpha Dawn Race

On January 17th, 2023, Delpha Dawn (Dove) Race passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family at the age of 92. Delpha was born May 23,1930 to Clarence and Joy (Richards) Dove in Denver, CO. 

Delpha is survived by her three children, Edward (Cindy) Race of Johnstown CO, Donald (Judy) Race of Wheatland WY, and Debbie (Steve) DeVries of Brighton CO; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Delpha married her high school sweetheart, Dean, in 1947 and lived at the family homestead in Commerce City. There, they ran a dairy until 1982 and farmed wheat. With the construction of DIA in 1989, they were made to leave the farm and relocated to Brighton, CO. However, they continued to farm wheat for another 10 years. Delpha enjoyed gardening and quilting and was a member of the Adams County quilters group. She was also an avid sports fan! She loved her Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos and was on a bowling league until she had to stop due to medical reasons. Delpha was a lifelong member of the Green Valley Grange; she enjoyed traveling to visit her grandchildren and fishing with Dean. If nothing else, Delpha loved her family dearly and put them above all else. 

She is proceeded in death by her husband and four siblings.

Delpha has requested that there be no services; she prefers to be remembered in your thoughts of the many good times you had with her. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to to either the Henderson Congregational Church, American Heart Association, or St. Jude’s. Delpha will be laid to rest next to her husband Dean at Eastlawn Cemetery on January 26th at 1:30pm.
