Destin Raybun Obituary

Destin Uriah Raybun was born in Decatur, Georgia on June 3, 1977, and was the oldest child of Alver Richard Raybun and Betty Nance. The family moved to Colorado when Destin was just one year old. While growing up in Colorado, Destin fell in love with its nature, and especially the mountains where he loved to spend time camping and four wheeling. Destin spent his early years in the Boulder and Lafayette area, and moved to Grand County, where he met many wonderful people who became friends for life. Three years his junior, his sister, Katrina Katen became one of his best, early childhood friends.

In June 2000 Destin married Elena Demchenko and they were married for 24 years until his passing in April of 2024. The couple had two beautiful daughters: Nina Sophie Raybun (born in 2007) and Viktoria Francis Raybun (born 2014). Destin was a devoted husband, and a very loving father, cherished his family and spent lots of time with them while traveling around the world and hanging out together in the Colorado mountains.

For over 24 years Destin was employed by Lumen (Quest, Century Link, Bell, etc). He was a true “Bell brat” as he was a second generation of “phone guys” in his family along with his dad. Here at Lumen he made many true friends and he will be truly missed as he helped many people by training them, assisting them in the field and in the office. Destin was very proud of his profession and his expertise. Even more so, he was very proud of his life long friendships at the Lumen Family.

Destin’s hobbies included anything pertaining to cars and trucks, anything about Colorado ghost towns and Colorado history, everything about four wheeling and camping.

Destin will always be remembered as a very kind, caring and giving person. He touched the lives of many with his tender and genuine love of people. Even after his passing, Destin was able to bless several people by becoming a tissue donor, thus fulfilling his longtime dream of helping others.

Destin was a faithful Christian, kept growing in his faith every day.
