Diana Lyons Obituary

Dearest family, friends, and community members,

Our beloved Mom & Grandma, Diana E. Lyons, of Brighton, Colorado has departed from her earthly body to enter into Communion with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, February 1st, 2025, pre-dawn.

Diana was born to John Adam May & Mabel Vivian May(Hethcoat) on July 9th, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Diana was the 7th of 8 children to John and Mabel.  Diana married her true love, Frank Cyril Lyons, on March 21, 1970 in Houston, Texas and they started their lives together, walking with Christ.  Diana & Frank went on to have two children, Bradley 1973, and Stacey 1976 and lived in the Houston Area until 1984.  In July of 1984, Frank accepted a job transfer that relocated the Lyons family to Englewood, CO.

Diana received her Associates degree in Home Economics from Texas A&I University (Kingsville) and worked in multiple Professional Administrative roles in her young life and worked as a Bank Teller until her children came into the world at which point, she became a full time Homemaker, raising Bradley and Stacey.  Diana believed in putting her best foot forward in all things.  She had a steadfast work ethic and took great care to detail.  She kept an impeccable home, she balanced the finances, she put delicious hot meals on our table, and served the family with the utmost love that anyone could give.  Diana was the hostess with the mostest and made her extended family and friends to feel like royalty whenever there was a get together, family reunion, church/sacramental function, or otherwise - if you were there, you were family and she loved you, and she excelled in making you feel special.  Diana never knew someone who wasn’t a friend, she was the most kind, and welcoming person.  She was happy, and she looked to make others happy, always, whether it was with a loving word, gesture, note and often a chuckle, she had a tremendous sense of humor and an infectious laugh.  The joy and love that she exuded was prevalent even into her last years in Memory Care.  Her care providers were regularly treated to hugs, and seemingly endless “I love yous” and they all just adored her, every single one of them.

Of course, that’s how she grew up.  Diana’s sisters and brothers fawned over her.  Her nieces and nephews all benefited from the loving care and companionship with their, “Nana” - hugs, kisses, playtime, storytime, you name it, she loved them with every ounce of her joyful being.  Diana’s faith was her most amazing attribute.  She was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary and she was a MIGHTY prayer warrior (her and Dad were a dynamic duo).  Diana prayed fervently and attended daily Mass.  She was involved in multiple prayer groups, in multiple Catholic parishes and has some of the best people on the planet as her friends and prayer partners.  She prayed the Rosary daily, and even if you didn’t know her, she prayed for you because she had red white and blue within the depths of her heart and prayed for America, and the global conversion of souls.  Diana and Frank led many hearts to a closer relationship with Christ through their devotion to the Blessed Mother.  We can’t even begin to fathom the number of decades she must have prayed in her lifetime.  Diana lived to serve God, her husband, her children, her family, and her community.  Our Mom lived life to the fullest, in the tiniest of moments, and the greatest ones, with us, her children, and her grandchildren.

The outpouring of love and support that we’ve received is a reflection of her life and love for others.

Diana is survived by her Son, Bradley (Michelle) Lyons and four grandchildren, Josh (Kari) Tessa, Tyler, & Jace -  Daughter, Stacey (Jay) Hiltman and  two grandchildren, Madison, and Nathan.  She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank, her parents John and Mabel, her siblings, Hugo (Bobbie), Don, Emma Jean (Sam), Martha (Gene), Mike (Frannie), Tom (Sally), Ted (Peggy) and her Grandson, Aaron Zachary Lyons.
