Diane Evans Obituary

Diane K. Evans

Diane Kay Evans was born in Sioux City, lowa to Kenneth and Elaine Watchorn and was the oldest of eight siblings. She grew up in Ponca, Nebraska and graduated from Ponca High School in 1969. She married Richard Alan Evans on April 23, 1988. Diane earned a degree in Senior Recreation at the University of Northern Colorado.

Diane spent most of her life in the two cities of Lafayette and Louisville, Colorado, working at numerous senior centers as a coordinator of senior activities. She loved working with seniors and made many good friends during her stay at numerous positions in the recreation facilities of both cities and Boulder. During her lifetime, Diane greatly appreciated the time that she spent with family and friends playing mahjong and numerous other board games on certain selective days. Among her greatest pleasures was when she went to family reunions in Nebraska and traveling to her husband's family reunions in different states, particularly Texas, South Carolina, Colorado, and Oklahoma. Her one true love of traveling was to go to Amish and Amana colonies in lowa and Pennsylvania for which she adored the culture of both communities that lived in these places. She always came back to Colorado with some memorabilia from her travels.

Diane was especially fond of going to sporting events in which her two sons, Alan, and Christopher participated in playing. These sports included hockey and soccer as they grew up. She never grasped the concept that both sports had to be rough, and she cringed whenever her boys were in the midst of contact with other players. She immensely enjoyed the camaraderie with the other mothers of the sports players and made many quick and easy friends. Later on she enjoyed watching football games with her husband Richard and watching other sporting events that were usually on during most of the day in the household.

Among her favorite shows were from the hallmark television series even though she knew how they would always end up. She was very active for her time in church until Parkinson's started taking its toll and she enjoyed going to Thursday night fellowship with a support ensemble called Live groups. In her later months she stuck to a strict adherence by participating in exercises done by internet presenters and was faithful in doing the chair exercises. Wherever Diane went, she made great friends with her most beautiful smile and great personality. Her other hobbies, besides meeting with friends, included book reading, mountain hiking when she could and taking trips to the Rocky Mountains. She loved the scenery of both Colorado and eastern Nebraska. It was her sincerest wish to see the tulip festival in Pella, lowa and attend her son's wedding in Puerto Rico. Her homes during her life were in several locations and each one was her pride and joy, and she made sure that everything was kept clean.

Diane is survived by her husband Richard Evans, her two sons, Alan (fiancée Cristine) and Christopher. Her siblings Iris (Mike) Dutton, Carol Watchorn, Larry (Cindi) Watchorn, Sandy (Dave) Finseth, Pam (Kelly)McGill and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and Aunt Stella Navrkal. She is preceded in death by both parents, a sister Irene (Reno) Lowe, and infant sister, Cynthia, many aunts and uncles, and some cousins.
