Don was born on May 26, 1942 to Leo and Elizabeth “Betty” (Hoffman) Suppes. He was the oldest of 5 children. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1960, then enlisted and served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He was on the destroyer USS John S McKain during the Vietnam War. After getting out of the service he started his 40 year career as the accounting clerk for the United States Postal Service in Brighton. He kept the books balanced to the penny.
Don met the love of his life, Pamela Rae Zerr in 1965 at Gaylors grocery store. They were married on May 6, 1967 and had 55 glorious years together. They had two children, three grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
Don was an active “life member” of the Brighton Elks lodge and the Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, skeet shooting, but loved to cook.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Betty Suppes. He is survived by his wife Pamela, son Peter Brian (Kim) Suppes, daughter Tawnya (Jerry) Wagner, grandson’s Blake Suppes (Joey), Austin (Jessyka) Suppes and granddaughter Morgan Rae Wagner and great granddaughter Oaklynn Suppes. His siblings, sister Betsy Henderson and his brothers Joseph (Carolyn) Suppes, John (Karyn) Suppes, Paul (Cathy) Suppes and multiple nieces and nephews.
