Donald Hughes

Donald Hughes, 92, of Brighton, passed away on January 13, 2022.

Don was born in Clarinda, IA on December 1,1929 to Harold H. Hughes and Dorothy Kent Hughes. He married Donna Fletcher on June 20, 1947 and was lucky to have spent the last 74 years with her, the love of his life. Don was a truck driver and enjoyed his time on the road but most of all, he loved being with his family. We will cherish all the amazing memories we had with him; from days at the lake, weekends in the Winnebago, taking us flying, his delicious BBQ chicken cookouts and so many more but what we will remember the most is all the love he gave to not only us but just about anyone who walked through that side door.

Don is survived by his wife Donna Hughes, his daughter Kris (Dave) Ocker, his daughter Jana Kelley, his son Donnie (Cheryl) Hughes, his grandson Jeff (Jennifer) Ocker, his grandson Alan (Sarah) Ocker, his granddaughter Aryn (Alex) Lallas, his grandson Ryan (Stacy) Kelley, his grandson Spencer Hughes, his great grandchildren Alyssa Ocker, Breanna Hitner, Jillian Lallas, Jake Lallas and Cooper Ocker and his great-great grandchildren Justin and Jacelynn Fisher.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Dorothy Hughes and his sister Verla Hutchinson.

In memory of our husband, father, and grandpa, we ask that you never pass up the opportunity to honk in tunnels or ask a trucker to blow their horn!
