Donald "Donnie" Mayeda Obituary

Donald (Donnie) Hideo Mayeda was the only child born to Mieko (Matsusaki) and Roy Mayeda at Fitzsimons Medical Center on June 29,1944.

Donnie was awarded the Eagle Scout Award with Brighton Boy Scout Troop 109 in 1959 and was a proud graduate of Brighton High School and Colorado State University. He was a member of the TKE fraternity. He was best known as a band instructor/teacher/leader in the Sedgwick/Julesburg and Fort Lupton/Platteville area. He had many fond memories of his career, always enjoyed seeing former students and often spoke of his student’s many accomplishments. (If you ever gave Donnie a present as a student, he kept it.)

Donnie had a very special group that he met for coffee with every morning where many of the world’s problems were discussed and surely solved. He also had a good friend, Frank Webb, whom he enjoyed many adventures with - happy hours, Friday dinners, Candlelight dinner plays, road trips, and adventurous travels. He had so many great memories and treasures from their vacations! And he was very grateful for the Webbs, his second family. He enjoyed meals with friends, the search for his new car, short drives just to get out, planning vacations, taking vacations, and Amazon shopping. He was very close with his mother, Mieko. They did many things together, working on the farm, fishing, trips and later traveling through the United States with their friend Mack Katayama. Donnie and Mack took very good care of his mom till her passing in 2006.

Donnie is survived by an aunt, Martha Inouye of Fort Lupton and many cousins. His best friend Frank Webb. His coffee buddies, classmates, fraternity brothers, students and many friends.

For those who knew Donnie, you have your own memory and hopefully it is one that brings a smile.

Donnie’s happy go lucky, smiley persona will be missed by all that he met.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date
