Dorothy Meza-Lopez Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Meza- Lopez. a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, educator, and devoted Catholic. She peacefully passed away on November 7th, 2024, at the age of 89.

Born in Brighton, Colorado, on February 6th, 1935. Dorothy spent her life serving and nurturing her family, faith, and community. A dedicated military wife, she supported her husband through, demonstrating strength and resilience in the face of constant change. But her greatest joy was always her children and grandchildren, to whom she imparted not only love but a deep sense of knowledge, compassion, and purpose.

As an educator, Dorothy touched many lives, sharing her wisdom and passion for learning. She devoted herself to teaching and helping others grow, both in the classroom and in life. Her legacy as an educator is etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege to learn from her.

A lifelong Catholic, Dorothy was guided by her faith, attending Mass regularly and living out the values of kindness, generosity, and service to others. Her faith was a source of strength and comfort throughout her life, and she instilled these values in her children and grandchildren.

Above all, Dorothy will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She lived for them, always putting their needs before her own and finding immense joy in their happiness and success. Her greatest pride was in raising her four children and watching them grow into the caring, compassionate adults they are today. She was a constant presence in their lives, offering advice, support, and above all, unconditional love.

She is survived by her children: Vince Lopez, Evelyn Kight (Dirk Kight) Ben Lopez, Andrea Morales, her grandchildren: Sierra Morales (Charlie Marquez), Desiree Tidwell (Alex Tidwell), Dena Lopez, Darius Fuentes, Donovan Morales- Cooper, Benjamin Hiler, Brandi Hiler, Marcel Lopez and her great-grandchildren: Skyler, Jonathan, Paislee, Xavier, and Amalia. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends who were blessed to know her.

Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved brothers Joe Meza, James Meza, John Meza, Vincent Meza, and Daniel Meza, Aunt Augustina Tovar- Meza, parents Daniel and Amada Meza, and grandparents Atanacio and Placida Meza.

Dorothy Meza- Lopez leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever.
