Douglas Martin Andrews passed away on November 8, 2024. Known affectionately as Doug, he was a man of few words, but his keen intellect and wicked sense of humor left a lasting impression on those lucky enough to know him.
Born on December 8, 1973, in West Covina, California to Patricia and Michael Andrews, Doug was the youngest of three boys. He was raised in Southern California and had many memories of the time he spent with his brothers and cousins at their Grandparents in Nevada. Doug moved to Colorado with his mom and brothers in his late teens and remained in Colorado, living in Steamboat Springs and the Denver area. Doug met his wife, Jane, while working together and they were married on December 31, 2007. They had no children but spoiled and loved their cat Tucker and dog Ginger.
Doug cherished his private life but loved spending time with his friends and family. He shared a lifelong bond with his best friend, Read Bierbach. Their friendship began at a comic bookstore and arcade over 30 years ago and their stories of those days together are legendary. Doug’s passion for gaming was well-known amongst anyone who knew him. He found joy and relaxation in gaming of all kinds, which was his favorite way to unwind and connect with friends and family. He enjoyed everything from videogames, card games, role-playing games and arcade games, but Doug held a special place in his heart for table-top board games. Doug never missed an opportunity to teach someone a board game and would make sure there was always room in the suitcase to pack a game or two, even if it meant packing less clothes for a trip.
He also enjoyed travel, taking special trips to Tofino, British Columbia with Jane. They celebrated multiple anniversaries and birthdays in Tofino and this destination became their special place together where they treasured magnificent sunsets on the ocean, vibrant starry nights and amazing cuisine. Doug and Jane also made several trips to San Francisco with their closest friends to attend a board game convention and spent days upon days of endless laughter and gaming, and where a lifetime of memories and stories were created.
He is survived by his Wife, Jane Andrews; Brothers, David and Eric Andrews; Uncle Richard and Aunt Shirley Ratazzi and Cousins Carri and Shelly Ratazzi. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Andrews and Aunt, Peggy Ratazzi.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Doug at Tabor Funeral Home in Brighton, CO, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. Those who knew and loved him are welcome to join in commemorating his life.
