Dwain Robert Williams Sr., 90, of Brighton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026. He was born on October 17, 1935, in Potter, Nebraska, and went on to live a full, hardworking, and joy-filled life centered around family, friendship, and community.
Dwain was the kind of man who truly loved being around people. He lived life to the fullest, never missing a chance to visit, laugh, lend a hand, or enjoy the company of others. He will be remembered for his love of family, his strong work ethic, his sense of fun, and the many memories he created with those he loved. Some of the most cherished memories include family gatherings and the homemade ice cream he carefully created for everyone to enjoy.
He worked hard throughout his life and took pride in every job he did. Over the years, he worked on oil rigs, helped build the I-70 tunnel, worked at Mitchell Campers, spent 10 years with Ford Motor Company, and later worked 18 years at the local Co-Op/Ace Hardware. He believed in showing up, working hard, and taking care of those around him.
Dwain also knew how to enjoy life. He loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, trips to Black Hawk, and was an avid sports fan. He was a familiar face around the community, frequently visiting local food banks, spending time at the senior center, and attending church every Sunday. Dwain valued friendship, community, and the simple joy of being around others.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Marie Williams; his parents, Robert F. Williams and Opal M. Jones; his brother, Virgil Williams; his children, Peggy Barnes, Rick Barnes, and Mike Barnes; and his grandchildren, Tiffany Barnes, and Josh Burris.
He is survived by his siblings, Ada Dela Motte and Jerry Williams; his children, Darlene and Emery Johnson, Danny and Koni Williams, Dwain and Wanda Williams Jr.; his grandchildren, Dwain III, Karla, Lindsey, Kandis, Staci, Jake, Angela, Jared, LaRae, Lacee, Ricky, Amiel, Jeffery, Ann, Michelle, Alan, and Mike Jr.; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many cherished friends. He also leaves behind his closest friends, Rick and Shelly, Guy, Jackie, and Virginia.
In honor of Dwain, donations may be made to Dwain Jr. to be split between local food banks and the senior center.
Dwain will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
