Edwin Everett Harshbarger
Edwin Everett Harshbarger passed away on July 17th at the age of 91 at his home in Brighton.
Ed was born in Ft. Scott Kansas on December 6th, 1933, to Edwin and Francis Harshbarger.
Ed attended Brighton High School and graduated in 1950. After graduating he lived in Cañon City, Colorado while working on a one-year printers' apprenticeship. He returned to Brighton and met Joyce at the soda counter at Pape Pharmacy.
Ed married the love of his life Joyce on November 13th, 1955, in Brighton, Colorado. They were married for 69 years.
Ed was a printer in the International Typographical Union for 45 years. He was an ITU Delegate for several years going to several conventions across the country. He took the whole family along. He was President of the local printer's union for two terms.
Ed retired from the Denver Post in 1997. He was on the Brighton School Board for 20 years (President for one term) He was appointed Adams County Commissioner for one year.
Ed's passion was hunting and fishing with family and friends when not working or volunteering. Ed was a rather good carpenter building their kitchen cabinets and many other things.
Ed & Joyce enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states and several foreign countries. They loved spending the Winter months in Arizona with friends and family.
Ed is survived by his brother Doug, son's Brian (Mary), Kevin (Loretta). Two grandchildren, Austin and James and great-grandson Dean.
Preceding Ed in death was his wife Joyce, parent's Edwin and Francis Harshbarger and brothers Bruce and Clyde.
There will be a funeral service for Ed on August 15th at the Tabor Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 10:30 and the service at 11:00.
There will be a Reception at Alli Event Center found at 100 S. 3rd Avenue in Brighton from 12:30 until 2:30.
