Elaine Dixon Obituary

Elaine (Linderman) Ritchey/Dixon 1941-2019

Elaine Marie Ritchey/Dixon went home to be with the LORD on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at her home in Brighton, CO.

Elaine was born in Fairplay, Colorado on January 3, 1941 to Harry and Viola Linderman. She lived her early years in California then moved to Brighton, Colorado and lived with her dad and stepmom, Alice Linderman. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1959. She met Clinton D. Ritchey and they married on July 25, 1959 and resided west of Hudson, Colorado where they farmed and raised Charolais cattle and horses. They raised four children: Joel E. (Angela) Ritchey of Hudson, CO; David W. (Stacie) Ritchey of Wiggins, CO; Brenda K. (Edward) Haffner of Hudson, CO; and Kim M. (David) Wolf of Keenesburg, CO. She and Clinton later divorced, and she married Wallace A. Dixon in 1981 and they lived in Estes Park where they enjoyed the mountains and wildlife. Wally passed away in 1988.

Elaine had a great love for animals and competed in 4-H where she showed dairy and horses at fairs. She loved riding horses and competed in barrel-racing, and pole-bending. She also had a great love for German Shepherds and had two beloved dogs, Krista and Cindy.

Elaine worked hard all her life. She worked as an executive secretary to the president of food services at Frontier Airlines and for Hartford Insurance. She then began a career in medical transcribing and coding. She retired from University of Colorado Medical Center but found herself bored so she returned to work and worked in medical records at Platte Valley Medical Center for several more years.

Elaine had many talents. She loved China-painting and her children and grandchildren have and treasure many pieces of her artwork. She entered some of her pieces in the Colorado State Fair where she took top honors. She also made beautiful quilts and did flower-arranging as well. She is also well-known as an excellent cook and is famous for her butter toffee and banana cream pie.

Elaine had a strong relationship with the LORD and was a member of Harvest Fellowship church for over 25 years.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, brother Grant Linderman, sister Loretta Campbell, her first husband, Clinton Ritchey and her second husband Wally Dixon. She is survived by a sister, Beverly Valencia of Atascadero, CA; her children; 9 grandchildren: Tye (Wyatt) Heidenreich, Skylar (Ryan) Waite, Morgen (Bryson) Grennan, Corey Ritchey, Kyle (Krista) Haffner, Kris (Kelsey) Haffner, Nick (Brittany) Haffner, Matthew Wolf, Haley (R.J.) Duran; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service celebrating Elaine’s life will be held on Tuesday June 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Harvest Fellowship in Brighton, Colorado, 11401 E 160th Ave, Brighton, CO 80602.
