Elaine Abeyta Gonzales, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at her home in Brighton, Colorado after her battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Although the neurodegenerative disease took so much from her-her ability to walk, speak and finally, breathe, it never robbed her of her spirit. In our memories she will forever be tending to her garden, dancing to her favorite songs, and doting on her family that she loved so much.
Elaine was born in Brighton, Colorado to Melaquias and Eleanor (Jaramillo) Abeyta. She was the tenth child of fourteen and had nine brothers and four sisters.
On May 3, 1969, Elaine married the love of her life, Raymond H. Gonzales. They had two children Julie Ann and Raymond Jr. and daughter in-law Lisandra. Elaine was blessed with four beautiful grandchildren, DeRhae, Alejandro, Jacqueline and Marissa.
Elaine was preceded in death by both parents, siblings: Dan, Mel and Sam. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Sr., her children Julie Ann and Raymond Jr. (Lisandra), and four grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Steve (Beth) Abeyta, Abe Abeyta, Paul (Anna) Abeyta, Bob (Nikki) Abeyta, Tony (Kathy) Abeyta, John (Gloria) Abeyta, Sally (Basil) Torres, Jenny (Richard) Torres, Cleo (Louie) Sandoval, Delores Abeyta and many nieces and nephews.
