Elba Gene Mitchell Jr. was born on September 9, 1958 in Denver, Colorado to Elba Gene Mitchell Sr. and Catherine Mitchell.
He was raised in Brighton and lived there most of his life. As a child, Jr loved going to work with his father, helping him around his garage and learning how to work on all types of vehicles; he especially loved playing jokes and pranks on his father and Uncle Larry.
After graduating from Brighton High School in 1977, Jr followed his fathers footsteps and pursued a career as a truck mechanic which he worked incredibly hard at for the entirety of his life until his retirement due to health issues in 2023.
Jr had a tremendous love for the outdoors, and would constantly be on the search for the next adventure. He loved to fish, camp, ride four wheelers & snow mobiles, especially when he was with his family. He also loved classic cars & trucks, going to car shows and race tracks around Colorado. Jr was a very helpful, genuine, and a free spirited person. He had a unique way of looking at the world, and carved his own path through life. Although he was a simple man, he always had big dreams for himself and his family, and worked very hard to make them a reality.
Jr will be missed dearly by all of his friends and family.
Elba is survived by both parents, Elba Gene Mitchell Sr. and Catherine Mitchell. By his two children, Britnie and Tyler Mitchell. Also, by his sister, Jackie (Jim) Dale, and two grandchildren, Kodie Mitchell and Adelyn Norris.
