Eleanor Linda Maestas, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Brighton, Colorado, on March 31, 2025. She was 77 years old.
Born on November 5, 1947, in Alamosa, Colorado, Eleanor was raised by her mother, Elizabeth Gallegos. She spent her early years in Alamosa before moving to Pagosa Springs around the age of 20. Eventually, she settled in Brighton, where she lovingly raised her two daughters, Renee Zornes and Roberta Espinoza.
Eleanor dedicated much of her working life as a custodian for schools, and after retirement continued to work at Eagle View Senior Center, where she touched many lives with her kindness and warm spirit. She was a woman of many passions—she enjoyed coloring, singing, and crafting with her great-grandchildren. A woman of deep faith, she loved God and was devoted to her beliefs. She found joy in playing Bunko with her friends, engaging in conversations, and being surrounded by people. Some of her fondest memories were spent fishing and camping, with Granby being her favorite camping spot. She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, always eager for a new challenge.
Eleanor is survived by her loving daughters, Renee and Roberta, her cherished grandchildren Devonie, Cheynne, Beau, and Rodney, and her adored great-grandchildren Josiah, Lincoln, Landen, Alex, Jonah, Lucas, Abby, and Lorenzo. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marie, and her brother, Manuel.
Eleanor’s warmth, laughter, and unwavering love for family and friends will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love and faith will continue to live on through those who were blessed to know her.
