Ella May Preston, age 99, passed away peacefully at her residence in Brighton, Colorado on Monday, May 17, 2021. She was born on August 21, 1921 in Brownsville, Ohio to Charles and Lola Alice (White) Pemberton and she attended schools in the same area. After her education concluded she then married John Preston, on January 29, 1946, in Philadelphia. A happy marriage that lasted for over 61 years.
For labor, Ella May had various jobs. She worked at a Timpken’s Roller Bearing Factory or some time, and after that she transitioned to her job of becoming a cosmetologist. The last job Ella worked was taking over homemaking duties for her family, which she absolutely loved to do. Tending to her family and keeping a clean and tidy house while raising her family was always her number one priority, and a full-time job. A job that she never minded doing in the first place.
Ella May loved tending to her plants in her garden and exotic orchids. She absolutely adored animals. She was known to be very artistic for she was excellent at drawing and she loved to paint with her watercolors. She cherished these skills so much that she instilled all her techniques and her love for being an artist into her daughter, which means she was a great teacher and mentor as well. Ella May was always a great mother. She was very caring and compassionate, and she loved to sing. When she was younger, she even took voice lessons and her favorite genres to sing out loud were opera and popular music. Ella May always took great pride in her appearance, she was always well kept and well dressed. She also took pride in staying organized and was devoted to her Christian faith. Until the very end Ella May had many good friends and stayed connected with them throughout the years, and she will be missed dearly by many.
Ella May is survived by; her daughter, Saundra (Damian) Deitrick. Along by her three grandchildren, Alexander (Sarah), Michaela “Rosie”, and Jack Deitrick. She is preceded in passing by both of her parents, Charles and Lola Alice (White) Pemberton, and by her loving husband, John Preston.
