Elvera Mary “Vita” Vigil passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on August 12, 1943, in Monte Vista, Colorado, Vita lived a life of love, family, generosity, and resilience. Often appearing quiet, she was determined and strong—when she set her mind on something, she made it happen. She faced life’s challenges with grace, leaving an example of perseverance.
Family was her treasure. Her home welcomed all, and no one left hungry. She found joy in feeding others, making tortillas and tamales, or simply doing dishes. She never asked for anything and gave her all with a quiet, constant love.
Vita found joy in life’s simple pleasures—hearing casino machines ring, watching dramatic novelas, and fishing with a simple stick. She danced cumbia with her cousin Veronica at Joe’s Buffet, carefree and joyful.
She accepted people as they were, speaking her mind with honesty and love. She had a playful side, a strong spirit, and inspired everyone around her.
Vita was preceded by her sons, Raymond and Levi Arellano. She is survived by her children—Richard, Judy, Betty, and Patricia—and their families, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends who will cherish her memory.
Her seat may be empty, but her legacy lives on in every act of love, every family gathering, and every reminder to keep going.
When we feel like giving up, we’ll think of Vita—her strength, love, and spirit forever in our hearts.
