Erik James Meakins

Erik James Meakins, 39, of Fort Collins passed away in Aurora on September 6, 2007. Erik was born on April 19, 1968 in Greeley to Marlo and Donna (Prideaux) Meakins. Erik graduated from Brighton high school in 1986 and attended the University of Colorado and the Colorado State University. Erik was married to Jean Ann Trbovich on June 30, 1996 in Fort Collins.

Erik was raised in the Brighton area. He played the trombone in the high school band and was active in with the drama department. He attended the University of Colorado from 1986 to 1988 and the Colorado State University from 1991 until recently. Erik had been working at the Colorado State University Library for the last 11 years.

Erik loved music and theater. He also enjoyed the wine culture and loved studying the art of winery . He collected videos, played golf and always had a story, made a joke and enjoyed the laughter of others. He enjoyed technology and working with anyone that needed help. Part of work at the library was data recovery and Erik taught others how to recover lost data. He also loved his two Italian Greyhounds Lola and Pinot.

Erik is survived by his father Marlo (Linda) Meakins on Fort Collins; mother Donna Meakins of Brighton; wife Jean Ann also of Fort Collins and brother Trent (Dana) Meakins of Brighton. Erik is also survived by two nephews Noah and Nikolas Meakins.

A memorial service has been scheduled for Monday September 17, 2007 at 2pm at the Bella Sera Event Center located at 45 Strong Street in Brighton. A celebration in the memory of Erik Meakins will be held Tuesday September 18, 2007 at 4pm at the Lincoln Center in the Columbine Room located at 417 W. Magnolia in Ft. Collins.
